Eine genaue Beobachterin unserer Zeit
Anne-Julie Raccoursier (b. 1974 in Lausanne, lives in Lausanne and Geneva) is interested in questions that are socially relevant today. Her works explore various facets of identity and methods of self-presentation. Along with objects and light installations, her chief mediums, photography and film, are only seemingly documentary in nature. A specific event is recorded in moving or static images, after which the material is compressed into precise montages. In her work, the Swiss artist relies on the power of imagery; her films only seldom employ sound. Her ideas about how to move through a large number of possibilities and constellations, ambivalent opinions, information, ephemeral structures, and temporary networks are marked by a subtle irony. The publication offers the first comprehensive view of Raccoursier’s oeuvre. The authors Kathleen Bühler, Bernd Schwarze, and Oliver Zybok provide in-depth insights into the thematic material in terms of art theory, sociology, and philosophy.
