Figures in the In-Between

The sculptor Annerose Riedl (b. Passau, 1949; lives and works in Brunnenthal, Austria) creates figurative sculptures in wood, bronze, and clay that she installs in ensembles together with her paintings and drawings. Painted on disused school maps, the pictures show minimalist spaces almost devoid of humans. Individually or in groups, Riedl’s figures appear standing in front of doorways or windows or in corners. Both her sculptures and her painted figures create the impression that her art transcends the barriers between representation and reality.

In-Between Spaces surveys Annerose Riedl’s oeuvre of over four decades and offers insight into her practice. With essays by Andrea Bina, Marion Bornscheuer, and Inga Kleinknecht and an introduction by Alfred Weidinger
