Chan Sook Choi

The Non-Statistical Body

What is left behind when people move away?

Chan Sook Choi’s (lives and works in Seoul and Berlin) performances, photographs, installations, and videos are the fruits of extensive research into subjects such as migration, memory, displacement, and the inversion of human and nonhuman relationships. The final form of her works is ultimately determined by the intuitive trajectories of her investigations, which are also reflected by the manner in which she installs them in exhibition spaces. Choi avoids fixed formats and pursues a site-specific and context-sensitive approach that aims to create an immersive experience for the viewers.

The Non-Statistical Body is the first book to present a comprehensive overview of Chan Sook Choi’s oeuvre. With essays by Hyeok Cho, Zoe Chun, Jesi Khadivi, Yung Bin Kwak, Sooyon Lee, and Siegfried Zielinski.
