Defining a Place in the Built World

Daniel Stubenvoll’s (b. Giengen, Germany, 1984; lives and works in Frankfurt/Main) artistic practice is defined by extensive walking tours of cities during which he gathers observations on their accessibility and discovers the peculiarities of buildings. His works spotlight quotations, recurring forms, and fracture lines in the built world around him.

The catalogue Genius loci is published in conjunction with the artist’s solo exhibition at Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim. 14 works from the past seven years illustrate how Stubenvoll’s art engages with architecture, urban planning, and gentrification. With scholarly and experimental contributions by the writers Nouria Behloul, Sina Brückner-Amin, Muriel Meyer, Cem Özsoy, and Isabelle Tondre.
