What Is Debt, in Its Most Elementary Sense?

Debt is a broad concept that can be examined from various perspectives, including its emotional, social, historical, and economic dimensions. Symbolically, it represents any form of imbalance. The members’ exhibition Debt at Salzburger Kunstverein, responds to the topic of debt in its material, written, and spoken forms.

The publication Debt asks how debt can be read, not only as an economic or political condition but as an emotional, symbolic, and even psychoanalytic relation. With writings by Mirela Back, Hana Ostan-Ožbolt-Haas, Alenka Zupančič, Miriam Stoney, Frank Wasser, and Benjamin Hirte.
