Die Schrebergartenlaube
Neue gestalterische Ansätze

Reimagined – Design, Sustainability, and Diversity

The publication DIE SCHREBERGARTENLAUBE reflects the interdisciplinary conception of design that guides the work of the design division at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. It documents the project Kleingartenlaube neu gedacht—die Gartenlaube im Fokus von Nachhaltigkeit, sozialer Offenheit und Biodiversität (Reenvisioning the Allotment Garden: The garden shed in the focus of sustainability, social openness, and biodiversity) initiated in collaboration between the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, and Bundesverband der Kleingartenvereine Deutschlands e. V. Besides design processes and methodological information, the book offers insight into the history of allotment gardens and foundations of design theory.

The publication gathers contributions by Sarah Buron, Eva Foos, Rainer Funke, Tobias Jänecke, Aylin Kayser, Caterina Paetzelt, Sandra von Rekowski, Thomas Stölting, and Hermann August Weizenegger and spotlights the project’s conceptual, design, and discursive fruits.
