Kunststücke
Ein Tanz mit dem Zeitgeist (Dancing with the Zeitgeist)
VOLUME 211

Passionate Art Criticism

This volume brings together eighty “Kunststücke” (art pieces / feats) originally published as columns in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Eduard Beaucamp’s critical interventions, glosses, and commentaries take aim at the contemporary art world. His central question concerns the possibilities and prospects of contemporary art: Is the twenty-first century simply becoming a rehash of the last one? Or will a rupture and a new beginning be achieved given the fundamentally transformed conditions? Particular attention is paid to the unification of East and West-German art in a polarized era. Beaucamp discusses questions about the changing role of the avant-gardes, as well as cultural-political problems, the relentless commercialization of the art world, museum strategies, and the influence of art dealers and collectors.

Eduard Beaucamp (b. 1937 in Aachen) is an art critic, feuilleton editor, and columnist.
