The basis for Florian Fausch’s (b. Zurich, 1981, lives and works in Dusseldorf) paintings are architectural structures he gleans during his daily expeditions into the city. The artist takes inspiration from reflective surfaces, from the sheen of wet asphalt and the vibrant play of the light on façades. His paintings fuse urban sceneries and interiors in novel interleaved formations, while color fields break apart and seem to rise from the support medium. Fausch’s works capture evanescent fragments from a fast-paced flood of images. Although his impressions are informed by contemporary media, he uses brush and oil paint rather than modern technology to translate them into art.
The monograph Vanish is the first to provide extensive insight into Florian Fausch’s painterly oeuvre from 2008 to the present. With introductory essays by Laurids Ortner, Jutta Saum, and Frank-Thorsten Moll.
