Exploring the Many Facets of the Wemhöner Collection

Over the past twenty-five years, Heiner Wemhöner has assembled a collection of around 1.800 works with connoisseurship and openness, spanning painting, sculpture, object art, photography, film, and video art.

The catalogue Follow Me Behind the Mirror. Positions of the Wemhöner Collection highlights the impressive breadth of the collection through Philipp Bollmann’s curatorial eye, replacing conventional order with associative juxtapositions. Bollmann’s dialogical approach opens up new perspectives and underscores the collection’s complexity—further explored in his perceptive essay on the catalogue’s conceptual framework, complemented by an essay by Heike Höcherl on the history of private collecting as an expression of cultural participation.
