Art for Cologne: From Diane Arbus to Andy Warhol


Freunde der ART COLOGNE e.V. is a nonprofit organization supporting the arts and cultural institutions in Cologne in order to strengthen the city’s and region’s cultural significance and appeal. Its objective is to buy major works of art at ART COLOGNE and make them accessible to the broadest audiences possible by giving them on permanent loan to Cologne’s municipal museums.

Released on occasion of Freunde der ART COLOGNE’s twentieth anniversary, the publication documents the nonprofit’s acquisitions of the past two decades. Works by Diane Arbus, Joseph Beuys, Norbert Bisky, Tony Conrad, Lovis Corinth, William N. Copley, Thea Djordjadze, Claire Fontaine, Dorothy Iannone, Walter de Maria, Pauline M’barek, Isa Melsheimer, Gerold Miller, Zanele Muholi, Albert Oehlen, Jorge Pardo, Tobias Rehberger, August Sander, Ursula Schulz-Dornburg, Daniel Spoerri, Andy Warhol, Pae White, and others have entered renowned collections, including the MAKK, the Museum Ludwig, and the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum.
