Fragile Images of the Present

The photographs of Neven Allgeier (b. Wiesbaden, 1986; lives and works in Frankfurt/Main and Vienna) are sensual, indirect, and full of warmth. They afford viewers an intimate glimpse into subcultures and their codes that the artist witnesses and captures on his travels: melancholic portraits of dreamy faces encounter diffuse city and nature shots. Allgeier plays with dualities and formal analogies between the photographed subjects and their environments. He creates a magical, contemplative picture of today’s youth cultures in a world that must assert itself in the face of crises and wars and threatens to fall apart at the same moment.

The edition of three motifs was created while working on the project Fading Temples, Allgeier’s second book, published by DISTANZ.
