SCULPTURAL ALCHEMY

Art Grounded in Alchemy

Per Svensson’s (b. Gothenburg, Sweden, 1965; lives and works in Gothenburg) art is a freewheeling form of research that integrates a range of methods, techniques, and media. For his practice, which encompasses sculpture, film, drawing, sound, architecture, and music, he also delves into spiritual disciplines of learning. In his installations, Svensson investigates nature’s ways in creating organic, asymmetrical, and geometric structures, translating his insights into visual and acoustic compositions involving diverse materials such as wood, metal, watercolors, and sounds.

The monograph SCULPTURAL ALCHEMY is released in conjunction with the exhibition of the same title at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin. With a foreword by Christoph Tannert and writings by Heike Fuhlbrügge, Pontus Hammarén, Wilma Lukatsch, Carola Uehlken, and Rainer Unruh.
