Robert Seidel

Geisterspiel

Reduction, Simplification, Selection

Robert Seidel (b. 1983 in Grimma; lives and works in Leipzig) does not want to reinvent painting. He takes classical themes––landscape, figuration, architecture––as his starting point and expands them to include a range of contemporary aspects. To the same extent that the construction of his pictures appears perfect, his painterly surfaces are imperfect: The paint appears aged, sometimes as if it has flaked off. Seidel’s paintings thus combine precision and weathering, the present and a strong awareness of the passage of time, to which the production of images is always subject.

The edition Geisterspiel comprises six unique works.
