For over sixty years, the conceptual artist Sarkis (b. Istanbul, 1938; lives and works in Paris) has expanded the boundaries of art interpreting human history as a shared treasure and transforming its suffering through aesthetic and formal innovation. In his photographs, collages, films and installations, Sarkis explores human memory, history and the significance of culture and space.

The catalogue 7 Tage, 7 Nächte documents Sarkis’s exhibition at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and with insightful essays, this publication explores Sarkis’s enduring investigations into memory, resilience, and transformation. With contributions from curators Defne Ayas, Çağla İlk, Sandeep Sodhi, and Misal Adnan Yıldız, as well as by Ruth Noack, Lara Fresko Madra, Hou Hanru and David Kazanjian.
