Ser Serpas, Rafik Greiss

By the Highway 22

Poetic anti form

In front of the lowered shutter of a closed gateway, which clearly marks the boundary between inside and outside, living space and street, an unusual pair of garden chair and pram appears, revealing the dichotomies that Ser Serpas creates in her assemblages of found garbage and abandoned things. Two discarded objects that still contain traces of individual biographies are mounted by the artist and shaped into a new poetic form.

The edition was created while working on the collaborative project By the Highway, in which Ser Serpas (b. Los Angeles, 1995; lives and works in Los Angeles and Paris) walks through Paris with Rafik Greiss (b. Dublin, 1997; lives and works in Paris), seeking out the sites that shape her sculptures and installations. Greiss documents these temporary object assemblages photographically before subsequently deconstructing them and returning them to the street.
