Viron Erol Vert

The Name of Shades of Paranoia, Called Different Forms of Silence

Alle Menschen besitzen die Fähigkeit zum Träumen

A secret continues to lie hidden in the subconscious of our dreaming minds. Currently, the longing to decipher the fleeting images of sleep is inspiring neuroscientists and artists alike. Among them is the Turkish-German artist Viron Erol Vert (b. 1975, lives and works in Berlin and Istanbul), who set up a kind of dream laboratory in the Galerie Wedding. Inside the room, Vert enables visitors to reconnect with their inner world, their dreams and fears, in order to analyze current events and to break down obsolete concepts and static structures. In view of the speechlessness and political helplessness worldwide in response to the chaotic conditions of our time, Vert pits various mythologies and traditions of the past against today’s aesthetic and moral values.

Along with documentation of the exhibition, performances, and the accompanying Dream Congress, the current publication contains scientific essays by Holger Brohm, Yusuf Etiman, Joerg Fingerhut, Amna Ghani, Pascal Grosse, Michael Mollura, and Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, as well as an introduction by Ute Müller-Tischler and an epilogue by Viron Erol Vert.
