Tokyo—Moscow—Brunnen
The photographer Yves Suter (b. 1983; lives and works in Zurich) is a global citizen and for years shuttled between Brunnen, a village in the Swiss Alps, and the metropolitan centers of Tokyo and Moscow. Making friends wherever he went, he delved into the subcultures of the skateboarding and snowboarding scenes, and over the past twenty-seven years, he has created unadorned and raw urban portraits that eschew familiar clichés. Playing with time, coincidence, and ephemerality, his snapshot-like photographs document the life in a place and its people, their dreams and communities.
The three-part publication Indefinite Album presents Suter’s photographs from 1996 to the present. With texts by the artist.
